Homesteading: DIY Aroma Bars

Handmade gifts from the heart! There is no price you can put on them! They bring joy to both the maker and the receiver….and they are gifts that keep on giving.

If you are lucky to be close to a neighbour that keeps Bees, you can get an ample supply of beeswax, if not – you can always buy beeswax or Paraffin wax. I prefer beeswax as it’s natural.

These pretty and beautiful fragrance wax bars are so easy to put together and they make gorgeous gifts. Hang them in your cupboard or leave them in your linen drawers…they are even great as a room fragrance.

Aroma Drawer Scents

Beeswax – 400g (You can also use Paraffin wax)

Potpourri, dried flowers, spices or dehydrated Lemon or Orange slices

Essential oils or fragrance oils (your choice)

Silicon molds (heart or bar molds work best)

Method:

Lay the potpourri or dried citrus slices in the molds.

Gently melt the beeswax in a pan over low heat. Make sure the wax does not burn. Once the wax has melted, add your fragrance of choice.

Pour the melted and scented wax into the molds and over the potpourri, citrus slices or spices. A thin layer of wax is enough for each bar.

Leave to dry and harden. Place them in pretty gauze sachets or make holes and attach string to hang them.

After a few months when the scents have faded, melt the wax bars down, add more fragrance oils and re-pour into molds and set again to reuse.

Gift or enjoy!
